The District Nurses - Day Respite Centres

The District Nurses operates Day Centres in South-Eastern Tasmania. 

Our Day Centres offer more than just a change of scenery. They provide:

• Centre-based care in a safe, friendly environment
• Social connection through games, crafts, music, and outings
• Respite for carers, giving families time to rest and recharge

Whether it’s a short walk, a shared meal, or a visit to a local attraction, every activity is designed to support wellbeing, independence and joy.

What’s on offer:

• Crafts, quizzes, gentle exercise and guest speakers
• Musical entertainment, dining out and special events
• Bus trips and excursions to local favourites

Day Centres run Monday to Saturday, 9:00am – 3:00pm. Programs vary by day and group — please contact us to find the best fit for your needs. Transport can be arranged for a small fee.

Getting started: Referrals are welcome from health professionals, agencies or directly from clients and carers. A basic assessment helps us understand your needs and determine eligibility.

Day Centre services are available through government-subsidised programs. A current fee schedule is available on request, and we’ll always let you know if costs change.
