Overview

Pets, family and even your favourite plants are all welcome, so that the Prins Willem Alexander Lodge feels genuinely like the place you belong.

Our Brisbane residential lodge is large, with 182 beds and seven respite places, but it feels like home. Our residents have their own rooms, with their own ensuite bathroom, as well as common social areas, everybody uses their first names and we encourage laughter and life. The facility is divided into smaller groups of roughly 30 beds, so that you have a tight community to spend your days with.

In May 2016 we formed a partnership with the Latin American Community of Australia (LACA) and we welcome the Spanish speaking community to our residential care facility.

We have peaceful courtyards to sit in or walk around, and our Lifestyle Team organises group activities, concerts and the like, for entertainment and engagement.

When it comes to food, we have four-week rotating menus, following the dietary guidelines set out by the Federal Government, and regularly reviewed by a dietitian, the lodge manager and the manager of food services. Of course, we consult with our residents to discover their likes, dislikes and special requests when it comes to meals, and any specific dietary requirements.

As our name suggests, our origin was in Dutch aged care, and we still like to celebrate Dutch national holidays, such as Sinterklaas, or our weekly Happy Hour, featuring an ‘advocaatje met slagroom’, mostly because it’s a chance to party.

Residents are invited to join the men’s workshop or ladies’ craft club, and to join our regular scenic drives and excursions into the beautiful landscape of the Redlands District.

Of course, as your required level of care changes, we are able to assist. Prins Willem Alexander Lodge has dedicated beds for Elders with Dementia, or requiring palliative care. We also have places for Respite, so carers can know their loved Elders are cared for while they take a break.

Other features of our lodge include a swimming pool, gymnasium, De Tantes Café, Bea’s Winkel shop, a hairdresser and pop-up shops to surprise and delight our residents.
