Pine Rivers Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS) is a volunteer based service that provides a door to door transport service for eligible clients. Clients may be unable to access other forms of transport due to health and accessibility reasons.
Volunteers provide transport for clients in their own vehicles and in CATS vehicles. As well as providing transport, volunteers can also provide social support by way of help with shopping and accessing facilities.
To meet the criteria for client eligibility you must be:
- a resident of the Pine Rivers area (former suburbs of Pine Rivers Shire) living within the funded boundaries
- be over the age of 18
- elderly or living with a disability and at-risk of premature or inappropriate admission to long term residential care
- an unpaid carer of a client (carers can only travel with the client) and
- not able to fully access the community via other transport options.
A phone assessment is carried out to determine if clients are eligible for the service. This is determined by an On-going Needs Identification (ONI) and service assessment that is conducted by a CATS team member.
