Melville Cares Home Support

Provided by Melville Cares

About

For 40 years we have been supporting clients to live well at home. Should you choose Melville Cares as your preferred provider we promise you the following:

A single point of contact to support you

At Melville Cares, you have a dedicated Coordinator who you can get to know, and who gets to know you, and what’s important to you. We know it’s not easy to share some of your needs and issues, so it's important to have a person you trust, you have confidence in, and who is working for and with you.

Your Support Team

Having the right care team is often the area that causes the most frustration and we know it’s crucial to get right. Having different people providing your services can be frustrating and exhausting and sometimes you might feel it is easier to go without. We understand it can be tough to repeat what you want and where things are in your home. Because of this, building your support team is our number one challenge and opportunity. When we start your services, we build your team from available staff that we feel meet your preferences. If you then request to have a specific staff member at a particular time, on a certain day, we’ll do our very best to achieve this, however, it is quite possible we will call you back to say it’s another staff member for the requested time, or the requested staff member for another time.

What our clients and their families say about us

Over 95% of our clients have confidence in their Coordinator and say that they are responsive, proactive and stay in touch. We’re working on the other 5%! -Independent survey by Felicx

“The service mum is getting is just amazing. I hear about what others in other organisations are getting and we have no complaints.” -Daughter of Melville Cares client

We know how important it is to get the staff you know and trust. Almost 90% of our clients responded ‘always’, or ‘most of the time’ to getting the same staff. -Independent survey by Felicx

Our in-Home Services

Cleaning and Laundry

We can assist with vacuuming, mopping and cleaning of bathrooms and toilets. We can also include dusting and help with laundry tasks. We encourage you to participate as much as possible.

Shopping

We can accompany you to local shopping centres to carry out essential shopping tasks including banking and paying bills. Alternatively we can provide a support worker to do the shopping for you.

Personal Care

We offer assistance with showering/bathing, dressing and personal grooming, and help you prepare for the day. The level of assistance that may be required with daily self-care will be discussed with you to retain a reasonable level of independence.

Medication Support

This service involves administering your medication or prompting you to take your medications at specific times of the day.

Meal Preparation

Our support workers are trained in food safety, meal preparation and food hygiene. We can prepare healthy meals for you if you are unable to do this task independently. Diet preferences and healthy choices will be considered and we will encourage you to have maximum input into dietary requirements and the meals you would like.

Nursing Services

Melville cares has a nursing team and brokered nursing services to assist you with any clinical needs, including comprehensive clinical assessment, wellness checks, wound care, catheter care, ostomy care, scheduled medication administration and etc through Home care package. The level of support or frequency will be panned though discussions with you as per clinician recommendation based on clinical assessed needs.

Social Support

Our one-on-one support allows you to go on outings for specialised shopping and to access the wider community. This is particularly important you are feeling socially isolated.

Home and Garden Maintenance

To help keep you safe, we can help minimise environmental health and safety hazards in your home and garden. This may involve minor maintenance or repair work that doesn’t require a licensed trades person. Examples include:

  • Replacing light bulbs
  • Installing batteries in smoke and security alarms
  • Cleaning the gutter, fans, and external and internal windows
  • High indoor cleaning, such as the tops of cupboards and fridges
  • Some minor home maintenance, such as cupboard door adjustments
  • Pruning, lawn mowing or weeding where a safety hazard exists

I just want to say how grateful I am to Melville Cares for providing home care and also gardening and window cleaning. Today I was fortunate to find that Geoff was my window cleaner and he did a really good job. If he can come to clean my windows on a regular basis when it's due, I would much appreciate it. He was efficient, and polite and did an excellent job.

I have already talked to Helen about my cleaning lady who came on Monday for the second time much to my pleasure. She also worked very efficiently and also was a very good worker.

Thank you for organising both Geoff and Rishma, both of whom I would like to have do the work on a regular basis.
