About
Aged Care Social Groups to Keep You Connected
Our social groups have something for everyone.
We run several community friendship groups to provide opportunities to learn, get involved and meet people, and to avoid becoming socially isolated.
We are flexible and responsive to changing needs and go out of our way to help you find groups and activities that you will enjoy.
Melville Cares Friendship Club
The Friendship Club meets Monday to Friday at the Southern Districts Senior Citizens Centre and provides a friendly place to get together with others in a social environment. It is a great place to spend time among your peers, make friends and spend meaningful time with like-minded people.
What can I expect?
A day at the Friendship club involves a lot of laughter and a delicious home cooked meal whilst enjoying the company of others. Our care team also provide transport to and from the club upon request.
Each day we have a variety of activities that can include trivia to test your knowledge, card games, bingo, mini golf, word games, art and craft, exercise groups and sing-a-longs.
Where is the Friendship Club located?
The centre is the blue building located at

Friendship Groups for People with Dementia
Run by experienced support staff, our interactive dementia program is designed to meet the needs of people with dementia.
Our aim is to provide opportunities to socialise, communicate and engage in a safe and stimulating environment. The program includes meaningful engagement, companionship, and a variety of activities aligning with the persons' interests, preferences, and abilities. Fun is always on the agenda and a nutritional home cooked meal is prepared on-site for all participants. These groups also provide some respite for families and carers.
The program also includes our Dementia Café initiative which provides an opportunity for dementia clients and their families to connect with one another in a special safe place. Held on a regular basis at Westfield Booragoon and Hawaiian Melville, our venues are softly lit, calm environments to enjoy quiet interaction.
Melville Friends Group Activities
We at Melville Cares are identifying a large range of meaningful activities, outings and events for our clients, that may further meet the need for social connection, education and enjoyment.
Do you want to rekindle a hobby or interest that you have enjoyed for many years? How about making new friends and attending a luncheon outing, movie, dinner club, art gallery, concert, visit a museum, have a catch up by the river, or you may want to participate in a walking group, light yoga, craft or art groups, bingo, singing and music appreciation, and so much more….
Each month we post a calendar of our fun and engaging events on our website. You can find them here: https://melvillecares.org.au/social-group/melville-friends-group-activities/
