Cygnet, a 42 place Juniper residential facility, is entirely dedicated to the special needs of dementia care. It is one of four residential care facilities on Rowthorpe's multiservice campus in Bentley.
Named for the small ship bringing settlers to the Swan River colony, Cygnet was originally opened in 1992 with three houses, Jacaranda, Lavender and Camelia clustered around a central garden. Of these, only one house provided dementia care.
Over time, demand for this type of care grew exponentially and Juniper responded by further developing the building in 2006 to enable the entire facility to provide dementia care. As part of this initiative, the central garden areas was extensively renovated to enhance the experience of residents and their families.
Spacious individual rooms with ensuite bathrooms and expansive lounge areas are important hallmarks of this facility and appreciated by residents and families alike.
