How long have you been with DPS?

I have been with DPS since October 2017.

What is your role?

My current role is Team Leader of the Client Services Team. My role entails working on all the different printed publications and dealing with advertisers that book into our publications. That includes helping get all their artwork ready for print and collecting their data to make sure we have the correct information displayed in our print publications and on the website. I also support consumers that phone in and need assistance navigating the aged care and disability support sectors.

Why did you join DPS?

I first came on board with DPS when they were in their very early stages of preparing what is now the Disability Support Guide. I came in as a casual role and started working on the data content for that publication. I eventually moved into full time work and built my way up to this position at the company.

What is the best thing about working for DPS?

Having worked in the disability and aged care sector for years, I loved the whole concept of what DPS is about. I thought it was a great idea what these Guides stood for and I jumped on board straight away when I had the opportunity. It is great knowing that we work on such a valuable resource for both aged care and disability sectors. I know these Guides are a resource for consumers that is really needed.

What are some of the things you’ve learnt in this role at DPS?

I had previous roles in the aged and disability sector and was brought in because of my disability knowledge to assist with the Disability Support Guide. I have learnt a lot about print media over the last four years, and I already know about the disability sector, so I can put the two together.

Now for some lighthearted questions, who would play you in your biopic?
This one fascinates me. I recently went home one night and asked my kids, “If any actor was going to play me, who would you pick?” And I could not believe it, they said Rebel Wilson or Melissa McCarthy. I look nothing like those actors so I said, “Why would you pick either of those two?” And they said it is not to do with looks, but I was still offended. Then I went into work the next day and asked the same question, and they said the same thing. I couldn’t believe that, but there you go.

Apparently I have the same vibe. How’s that? Funny and sarcastic. If I had to choose, I would like to think Jennifer Anniston or Christina Applegate.

What fictional place would you most like to go?

I have always wanted to be Alice in Wonderland, ever since I was a little kid. I would love to fall down the rabbit hole! I always loved Alice in Wonderland and I still love it now. I don’t know what it is about Wonderland, but I just loved the idea of getting lost in that madness.

Which team member would you most like to be stuck on a desert island with and why?

I’ll go Margot (Editor of the production and editorial department), she will come in very handy because of her height, she would be able to pick the fruit off the trees. And then I would take Maria (Disability Sector Media Specialist) because she is a really good cook and she would be able to create great food out of nothing.
