How long have you been with DPS?

It’s been a little over three months now since I joined DPS. Certainly feels like time has flown by in the second half of the year!

What is your role?

I’m a Journalist, but that also includes some other digital content work across social media and our websites. It’s been a nice change to get back into journalism (which I studied at university) after a few years of leaning more into digital marketing.

What are some of the things you’ve learnt in this role at DPS?

A lot! Mainly all to do with our content in aged care and disability support. Whether it’s writing for an informative article or focusing on some breaking news, I’ve really delved into a new world of information. From covering the Disability Royal Commission and recapping the Federal Budget, to talking to experts from a range of industry-leading organisations, every day is exciting here.

What is the best thing about working for DPS?

Definitely learning from experienced colleagues who are passionate about what they do. Everyone is like a fountain of knowledge and it’s fantastic to be able to ask any question and have it answered by someone who truly knows their stuff. It’s exciting to be a part of the DPS team.

What is the best thing you have worked on?

It’s hard to pinpoint one thing as the “best” but I’ve certainly enjoyed the challenge of covering the Disability Royal Commission. Although the topics are hard-hitting and heavy, reporting on the rolling coverage was something new. It’s insightful and meaningful content, and hopefully the Commission will lead to improved conditions for people with disability.

What is your greatest achievement?

Since it’s been such a short amount of time, I feel like my greatest achievement here is still on the way! But so far I would have to say being involved with the launch of HelloLeaders. It’s always exciting to be a part of a new website and to be at the centre of creating new content for aged care professionals, well that’s pretty cool!

Now for the fun questions, what fictional place would you most like to go?

I’m a big fan of fantasy and growing up one of my favourite book series was The Edge Chronicles. To this day I still love the illustrations and books. The series itself was aptly based in a world called The Edge. It’s possibly one of the strangest settings to describe. There’s a large city on a floating rock, and that rock is tethered to the ground by a giant chain. There’s also a region further inland called the Deepwoods full of strange creatures and clans. Plus, there are sky pirates! Flight is the fastest way to travel and it’s how they discover new cities as the series goes on. Incredibly fun and exciting.

What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?

Not really a what, but a who. I could happily talk about my cat, Luna, all day long. I’m a proud cat dad who’s far too much of a sucker when it comes to spoiling her. But I also have plenty of stories to tell and could talk about cat mannerisms with ease.

Who would play you in your biopic?

Knowing just how enthusiastically he participated in his most recent movie, I would have to say Daniel Radcliffe. Only someone who can capture the world’s imagination as Harry Potter, and then absolutely mystify them as Weird Al Yankovic could possibly capture my occasionally punny and silly sense of humour. He also has the ability to grow a great moustache and that’s really the only major requirement I need.
