About
Harold Hawthorne Community Centre (The Centre) has been an integral part of and supporter of the local community since 1968. As a non-for profit organisation, located in Carlisle, The Centre connects people through services, programs, activities and events that enrich their overall wellbeing and provide opportunities for them to become active members of a thriving community. The Centre offers an extensive range of home support services to enable seniors to be socially connected and independent in achieving their goals and remain living independently in their own homes.
The Social Activities Centre (SAC) provides a wide range of activities and outings for people who may be socially isolated or looking to increase their connection to the community. Our team design programs and activities in consultation with our service users to provide them with enjoyable, engaging, safe, meaningful and wellness focused activities, outings and events. Our overall goal is to reduce social isolation, promote wellness and positive ageing within a friendly atmosphere and great facilities.
Centre based activities and outings run Monday to Friday on varying schedules as outlined on a monthly calendar.
In addition to a social activities program the Centre also offers a diverse selection of regular group activities, events and information sessions to explore and enjoy, social, educational and health benefits from, these include;
* Weekly Bingo (Fridays)
* Monthly Lunch & Shows (3 course lunch with entertainment)
* Indoor Bowls (Thursdays)
* Tai Chi & Yoga (weekly)
* VP 55+ Clubs (special interest clubs/activity groups with varying frequency) - including Digital Decoders, Carlisle Cuppas, Happy Wanderers, Arty Party, Carlisle Crafters, Book Lovers, MyStory Writers, Walkie Talkies, Boardem Busters etc
* Podiatry - fortnightly
* Harry's Diner - Lunch Mon - Fri
* Library - Book exchange Mon - Fri
