The Gordon Park Multi Service Centre (GPMSC) operates from two beautiful Queenslander-style cottages. The Centre offers secure, cottage-based respite, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. It is suitable for both people with dementia and people aged over 65, who are looking for opportunities for social and community engagement. The Centre operates the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and Home Care Packages (HCP) Program, and provides the following services:
- Centre-Based Respite & Social Support
Centre-based respite and social support provides social interaction for our clients and a break for their carers. Clients participate in social and artistic activities, small group outings, community functions and local clubs, which are based on their interests. Assistance for shopping and medication management is also available.
- Overnight Respite & Emergency Respite
The Centre provides flexible arrangements for overnight respite with families accessing respite for one night only, a few nights, or for a 2-week stay. Emergency overnight respite can (often) also be arranged at short notice.
- In-Home Respite & Personal Care
In-home respite provides an in-home companion to interact with the person with dementia in their own home for short periods while the carer takes a break. Personal Cares such as personal hygiene, dressing and/or meal preparation can also be provided by a suitably qualified staff member.
- Young Onset Dementia
Consumers with early onset dementia often have very specific support needs. Please discuss yours with us so that we assist to optimise your quality of life and civic participation.
- Allied Health
Funded allied health services such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology are available and targeted towards maintaining or restoring our seniors' wellness and independence.
- Consumer Directed Care (CDC) Packages
CDC Home Care Packages – all levels, are available in the Brisbane North region. CDC services include personal care, domestic assistance, medication prompts, meal preparation, social support, general maintenance and gardening.
- NDIS Services
We are now providing NDIS services to qualified individuals under age 65years.
- Carer Education and Support
GPMSC also offers carer support through monthly Carer Support Group meetings, library services, 24 hour advice line 1800 639 331 and information sessions
