About

Caring for the local Broome community since 2008, Germanus Kent House provides accommodation and support to 55 residents.

Germanus Kent House has all the features of a modern aged care home while still incorporating the natural beauty and vibrant culture of the Kimberley region into its design. Broome’s distinct way of life is reflected in the house’s earthy tones and floor to ceiling windows, which let in the tropical light and display the surrounding landscaped gardens.

Our team is made up of Registered Nurses, Carers, Chefs and Hospitality staff who support our residents 24 hours a day. Residents also receive specialist support from allied health professionals.

Working on the land of the Yawuru traditional owners, it is important that our residents remain connected to their culture. We do this by providing culturally appropriate services so our residents can retain strong ties with their family and community.

We also offer a range of daily activities such as entertainment, social activities and outings. The onsite chapel provides a place for quiet reflection, or residents can attend the regular mass services. Our home also includes a fully equipped hair salon and a therapy room where residents can receive specialist podiatry and physiotherapy.

Germanus Kent House has been purpose built to support residents with low, high and dementia specific needs. Design features that are of particular benefit to residents with dementia and/or mobility challenge include wide hallways, sensor floor mats and emergency call bells located throughout communal areas. Our Dementia Services team assess and review our residents and work closely with family members to develop a comprehensive personalised support plan, to ensure the resident is comfortable and happy in their surroundings.

*We acknowledge that we work on Aboriginal land, traditionally the home of the Yawuru people of West Kimberley. We pay respect to all elders past and present.
