The Elsie Salter House day program offers a caring, home-like, safe and secure environment, gently supporting companionship, new friendships, restoring and building self esteem and independence.
Elsie Salter House is a community adult day program offered by Samarinda Aged Services providing an inclusive specialist low and high level care needs program designed to meet the individual requirements of people with dementia, memory loss and confusion. The service provides an opportunity for people to maintain their independence to remain living at home whilst enabling carers to take a break from their busy role. The program provides supported socialisation, stimulation, interaction, gentle recreation and community access opportunities. Quality care and understanding is paramount, providing an opportunity to enhance quality of life, and at the same time, provide gentle support, information, guidance and referral services to both clients and family carers.
Assistance with activities of daily living and personal care, incontinence, wandering, other behavioural changes, culturally diverse backgrounds and special needs do not exclude people from the program.
The program is open to anyone who has dementia / associated memory loss who requires the service. The service is also available to people who receive Commonwealth funded home care packages.
Access priority is given to residents of Boroondara, regions of Whitehorse, Monash and Stonnington or those whose family carer lives or works within these areas. A number of places are also available to people outside of these areas.
The service complies with relevant legislative requirements and is a member of Aged Care Association of Victoria.
