Blue Haven comprises 203 independent living units in one, two and three-bedroom designs. There is also a well established aged care facility and nursing home catering to its residents.
Aim: To provide the highest possible standard of care and accommodation for residents of the Blue Haven Nursing Home, Hostel and Independent Living Units.
Objectives: To achieve the above aim whilst ensuring:
- the independence, lifestyle and self-respect of all residents is optimised.
- the village’s operations are financially self-supporting with any operational surplus being spent on capital improvements or held in reserve for the future benefit of residents.
- policies and procedures are open to public scrutiny through the Blue Haven Retirement Village Board, the recommendations of which are subject to ratification by the Council of the Municipality of Kiama.
- compliance with the Retirement Villages Act and other relevant legislation.
Blue Haven is owned and operated by Kiama Municipal Council and was established in 1979. The facility is located adjacent to the Kiama Leisure Centre and sports fields as well as the Blue Haven Village independent living units in the beautiful seaside town of Kiama.
The aged care facility comprises:
- a 30 room low care facility (hostel) serviced by lifts.
- a 32-bed high care facility (nursing home) which includes a 20-bed dementia-specific unit.
Hostel care:
- accommodation in single rooms with ensuite and unrestricted access to common areas
- care staff available 24 hours a day
- assistance with personal/medical care needs
- meals

- weekly cleaning of rooms

Nursing home care:
- single rooms
- single room with shared ensuite
- twin shared accommodation with ensuite
- four-bed rooms with ensuite
