Astley Care In Home Care Services
About
Astley Care have been operating for over 30 years in the Gosnells/Armadale areas providing support for aged people, people with disabilities and their carers to remain living in the community with an increased quality of life. We offer a wide range of tailored and flexible services funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) to help you to live life to the fullest, in your community.
As part of our vision, which is to provide choice, dignity and independence, we pride ourselves on delivering person centred care. This includes:
- providing the same support worker, from week to week, at a time to suit your needs
- ensuring you are kept informed of any changes
- welcoming feedback about our services and will vary services or support worker at your request.
We welcome people with dementia, Aboriginal people, people from the LGBTI community and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to access our services.
Assessment
To access any of our services in the home you will need to contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to arrange an assessment and advise them that you wish to be referred to Astley Care.
Our CHSP Services in the Home
Domestic Assistance
We provide assistance with basic housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing floors, laundry and meal preparation and our clients are encouraged to work alongside our staff to the best of their ability.
Shopping and Transport
Astley Care can get you to and from the shops and help you to make purchases if necessary. For many of our clients shopping is an important social activity that helps them keep in touch with the wider community. We can take you on a one to one basis, if required, or if you prefer you can go on our shopping bus. We can help you with transport and support to enable you to get to medical appointments and social outings. Transport can be provided in a hoist equipped vehicle, if required.
Social Support either One to One or in a Group
Being housebound can have a major impact on overall health and wellbeing. Astley Care provides a wide range of social support outings including one to one visits to places of interest or outings on our Mystery Tours which are held on weekdays, Tuesday evenings and Saturdays. On our Mystery Tours a small group of clients enjoy socialising with others while visiting a place of interest and having a meal. Husbands, wives and partners are welcome to attend - as long as they are CHSP assessed.
We can also arrange for one of our staff to visit in your home for a social visit or for someone to telephone you regularly to have a chat, if that is what you would prefer.
Personal Care
Our staff can come to your home to provide assistance with tasks such as showering, dressing, shaving as well as medication prompting and management.
Home Maintenance/Gardening
Our home maintenance service, which includes gardening and other light maintenance tasks, is provided to enable you to live safely in your home. Services include lawn mowing, pruning of shrubs, cleaning gutters, changing light bulbs and smoke alarm batteries and other odd jobs.
Respite & Carer Support – in the Home
Respite Care
We all agree that taking on a carer role can be exhausting. With this in mind, we can provide carers with up to four hours a week break from their caring role. Our support workers are well trained, including in dementia care, and will provide company in the home, outings, personal care, meal preparation and light housework with the aim of giving the carer a break. Respite can be carried out on a regular, planned or one of basis and is available on weekdays. Limited hours also available on weekends and evenings to enable carers to attend special occasions.
Carer Support
Taking a break from your carer role provides a vital opportunity to recharge your batteries. Our Carers Group meets quarterly to provide support, socialisation, information and training in a group setting. We can also provide transport to the group and respite if required.
