Alwyndor is a non-profit community service vested the responsibility by the City of Holdfast Bay to operate the Dorothy Cheater Trust. Since Alwyndor's inception in 1976, the facility is continuously recognised for its commitment to providing the community with the highest level of quality care and attention to individual needs.
Alwyndor's services and facilities are based on the simple principle: quality and choice of care. We are committed to providing a diverse range of quality services and choices that respond to the individual physical, emotional and cultural needs of older persons.
Accommodation features 134 beds for residents which includes respite and a secure area for dementia care. Small and intimate cafe-style dining rooms, courtyards and landscaped grounds. Attractive private lounge and sitting areas for residents to entertain visitors.
The range of community care services available through Alwyndor includes Home Care Packages (HCPs) level 1 to 4 and Home & Community Care (HACC) funded Home Care Services.
Alwyndor is also a provider of Transitional Care Services for eligible people who are leaving hospital. Private packages of assistance may be provided, subject to negotiation.
Additional services include internet cafe, BBQ facilities, Men's Shed program, gym, free resident WiFi, in-room information channel, comprehensive lifestyle programs, keyless entry security and optional wireless personal call pendants.
The Italian Benevolent Foundation conducts a weekly "Passa Tempo" program at Alwyndor for people from Italian speaking backgrounds.
