Ground floor houses have their own spacious courtyards with gazebos and extensive landscaping. The Village is blessed with an abundance of indoor and outdoor spaces for residents’ & relatives’ enjoyment. These include library, café, 300-seat community hall, central courtyard, town square, swimming pool (with spa nook), barbeque pavilion, pond area with gazebo, children’s playground and residents’ workshop. The Plains is a little different from some other aged care facilities, in that it operates on a ‘house’ (or ‘lifestyle’) model of care as opposed to a ‘medical’ model. This means that resident areas are as home-like as possible, with no effort spared to avoid the institutional or hospital-like environments that characterise or used to characterise, the traditional aged care facility. This difference is deeper than the physical fabric (which certainly does look and feel eminently homelike).
