$9.3m development at Resthaven Chiton Retirement Living opens
Resthaven has officially opened its $9.3 million Chiton Retirement Living development, delivering 11 architecturally designed, energy-efficient units, community gardens and new amenities. Located between Port Elliot and Victor Harbor, the seven-star eco village offers modern retirement living with strong sustainability credentials.
The $9.3 million addition to Resthaven Chiton Retirement Living was officially opened last month by Mayor of Alexandrina Council, Keith Parkes, together with Resthaven CEO Darren Birbeck, Executive Manager Community Services & Retirement Living Mel Ottaway, and Board President Mark Porter.
Residents of the village attended the event as well as special guests: Managing Director of Brown Falconer Architects Mario Dreosti, Kennett Builders Construction Manager Gavin Filmore, Resthaven Board Member Geri Malone, Resthaven CFO Rob Quinton, as well as Resthaven Senior Managers Sarah Brown, Vanessa Clarke and Emmet O’Donnovan, the Retirement Living team, and prospective new residents.
Speaking at the official opening, CEO Darren Birbeck says, ‘Resthaven is thrilled to officially open this development, which involved the construction of 11 retirement units, community gardens, and a new caravan parking space.’
Energy-saving design features at the seven-star eco village elevates its green credentials, and low-toxic materials ensure healthy living spaces.
Selling off the plan, modern architecturally designed two-bedroom + study units are available for sale. Each home features a main bathroom plus an ensuite or second toilet and powder room, as well as a 5.28kva solar system to help offset electricity costs, a solar hot water system and rainwater tanks.
The formalities aside, the residents and staff from Resthaven later took the opportunity to enjoy a Christmas lunch together, as well as celebrating the 90th anniversary of Resthaven.
‘This is a particularly special celebration today as we are not only opening this new development but also marking the final celebrations of Resthaven’s 90th anniversary,’ Darren says.
Resthaven Chiton Retirement Living is nestled between Port Elliot and Victor Harbor. The village has previously won several awards for its first-class homes.
