Qld state budget offers pensioner utilities rebates
The Bligh government has moved to alleviate the cost of living pressures on Queensland pensioners by adding to existing rebates in the state budget for 2008-09.
It announced a new Pensioner Water Subsidy scheme (a $40 rebate rising to $100 in 2010) for eligible pensioners in the south-east corner; and an increase in the yearly electricity rebate from $145 to $165 for concession card holders.
Some Queensland seniors are also currently entitled to a Reticulated Gas Rebate, rate subsidies, and car and boat registration discounts.
