It has been a year of growth, change and reform for seniors care and lifestyle provider, IRT Group, but the team has embraced the challenges and looks towards a bright future.

IRT Group’s annual general meeting (AGM) was held recently, where chief executive, Nieves Murray, discussed the reforms shaping the aged care sector.

“The past year has been one of unparalleled reforms in the aged care and charity sectors,” Ms Murray began. “We have been working closely with the federal government to influence the shape of these reforms and the organisation is poised to thrive in the new environment.”

As a leading seniors’ lifestyle and care provider, IRT Group’s financial position for 2011/12 was strengthened with an increase in revenue of 3% to $135 million.

“Our financial outlook is a very positive one: our cash position is strong; our IRT Links Seaside acquisition loan has been paid off and we have no secured debts at year end. Our gross asset value is up by $29 million and we are well set to further investment,” she said.

IRT Group staff and customer numbers have also continued to grow. Since 2007, there has been cumulative growth in customer numbers of 85% and staff numbers have grown from 1,619 in 2007 to 2,100 today.

The fastest growing part of IRT Group’s customer base is in-home care, with almost 5,000 seniors receiving services from the provider at home, representing 176% growth since 2007.

“We’ve had an outstanding year at IRT Group and been recognised locally, at a state and national level with many awards,” Ms Murray said.

“We have positioned ourselves as serious national players in our sector, but above all, we remain passionately committed to our core mission of creating communities where seniors achieve their optimum quality of life.”
