Rocking out to life
Tall Trees Caboolture will be rocking out at their 1950s themed day next Wednesday as they celebrate Seniors Week. There will be a free high tea as seniors are taken back to the exciting era of the 50s, with classic cars, milk bars, record hops, pin-up girls, 50s fashion, hairstyles and, of course, rock ‘n’ roll dancing.
Tall Trees Caboolture will be rocking out at their 1950s themed day next Wednesday as they celebrate Seniors Week.
There will be a free high tea as seniors are taken back to the exciting era of the 50s, with classic cars, milk bars, record hops, pin-up girls, 50s fashion, hairstyles and, of course, rock ‘n’ roll dancing.
The event will start at 10am on Wednesday, 22 August and Zed28 – a rockabilly band that performs music from the 50s and 60s with plenty of passion – will perform.

Tall Trees lifestyle coordinator, Kerri Stockham, says Seniors Week is an opportunity for Queenslanders of all ages and backgrounds to join together and celebrate the valuable contributions of seniors.
“The theme of Seniors Week in Queensland this year is ‘Living and loving life’ and what better way to celebrate than reliving a golden era that they’re all so fond of?” Ms Stockham asks.
“With music that will have everyone up and dancing, fun, laughter, and a morning tea, we’re sure to be giving seniors a wonderful day they deserve.
“Everyone is also welcome to stay for lunch, we will be having guests from other Tall Trees locations joining us for the day – we feel the more the merrier.”
Those wishing to stay for lunch will need to RSVP by Friday (17 August 2012). The cost of lunch will be $11.
Ms Stockham says Seniors Week is about improving community attitudes towards older people as Tall Trees believes it’s important to celebrate their role in society and thank them.
“We feel gathering seniors together for a high tea with fun entertainment is a great way of forming stronger relationships between the wider community and residents,” she says.
Ms Stockham adds Seniors Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and say thank you for the valuable contribution seniors make to our community.
“We hope to see a lot of people come along and celebrate seniors’ week in style with our staff and residents, we’ll all be dressed up for the occasion.”
