Regis Aged Care expands facility portfolio

Regis Aged Care will assume ownership of the 194 place aged care facility, subject to the approval of the Department of Social Services, on 1 April 2015.

Blue Care executive director, Robyn Batten, says a key consideration in Blue Care’s agreement with Regis Aged Care was to ensure conditions for residents and staff would remain comparable under new ownership.

“The wellbeing of our residents and the quality of care they receive are paramount. Our residents have entrusted their care to us, and we take this responsibility very seriously,” Ms Batten says.

“We also recognise and value the tremendous work of our staff, and the essential role they play in maintaining the wellbeing of our residents,” she adds.

“All existing staff will be offered equivalent positions and retain equivalent conditions with Regis Aged Care, meaning residents will continue to be cared for by the people they know and trust.”

There will be no change to the financial contribution for existing residents.

Regis has operated in Australia for more 20 years and has 46 facilities throughout the country.

“We are very excited to be adding Blue Care Redlynch Glenmead Village Aged Care Facility to our family of aged care homes across Australia and to be extending the Regis family,” says Ross Johnston, Regis Aged Care chief executive.

“We are proud of our achievements and the addition of Blue Care Glenmead will complement and expand our high standards of care,” Mr Johnston says.

Blue Care Glenmead will be the first Regis facility in Cairns. Following this acquisition, Regis will have more than 5,000 operational places and employ in excess of 5,500 staff in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Blue Care will retain its strong, ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality community health and residential aged care services to Cairns and North Queensland communities.

Blue Care will continue to provide community services to clients, either in their own homes or in Blue Care centres, in Cairns, as well as Indigenous residential aged care services at Blue Care Hollingsworth Elders Village.

Further afield, Blue Care offers a range of services to clients across a vast footprint in the north of Queensland including: Mareeba, Atherton Tablelands, Mossman, Innisfail, Tully, Townsville, Charters Towers, Proserpine, Ayr, Bowen, Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Cooktown and Thursday Island.
