The aged care provider recently won a Silver People’s Choice Award Telly Award and a Bronze Award in the Judge’s Health and Fitness category.

The Telly Awards are a prestigious industry award honouring the finest film and video productions, groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films, and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs. The awards gives the public the power to view and rate the videos online.

‘Finding the Why’, among nearly 12,000 entries, is a film about Starrett Lodge's leading dementia care program, and shares an important message that, with a bit of common sense, and some love, care and attention, everyone can live well with dementia.

According to UnitingCare Ageing, the film’s success in the People’s Choice Award reveals that the community wants to learn more about dementia.

'Finding the Why' was filmed at UnitingCare Ageing’s Starrett Lodge at Hamlyn Terrace on the NSW Central Coast.

The 16 minute film presents a fresh perspective on aged care, highlighting the positive effects of person centred care, and looks specifically at Starrett Lodge’s approach to enabling active participation in life in aged care.

'Finding the Why', directed and co-produced by Corinne Maunder, of Fire Films Australia, also won an International Health Short Film Festival award last year.

The film was commissioned by Colin McDonnell, care service manager at UnitingCare Ageing’s Starrett Lodge.

‘Finding the Why’ has now reached thousands of people, and has even led to Starrett Lodge featuring on the SBS Insight special ‘Dancing with Dementia’.
