Residents and staff dancing the night away at The Laurels

After a day spent hosting RetireAustralia’s monthly board meeting, The Laurels’ community centre was recently transformed into a 50s diner for a night of rock ‘n’ roll, swing dancing and classic 50s fashion.

Residents and staff alike kicked up their heels on the dance floor, following a brilliant performance by members of the Adelaide Rock ‘n’ Roll Club.

The pros twirled away in their colour coordinated outfits before extending a hand to the wowed audience members and urging them to their feet.

Many of the residents got into the spirit, looking every bit the part in their flared skirts, frilled socks and leather jackets.

“It was a wonderful night, and great to see the residents having such a great time,” says Kathy Fox, The Laurels village manager.

The group built up their strength with traditional American-style hot dogs and milkshakes, prepared by the talented village chef, before returning to the floor for more dancing and festivities.
