MiCare Avondrust Lodge has undergone an exciting redevelopment and expansion and offers a three-storey luxurious aged care residence in the heart of Carrum Downs. Carrum Downs is situated halfway between the thriving, multicultural city of Dandenong and the beach-side city of Frankston, the gateway to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Conveniently located close to parks and the local village shopping centre allows Elders to remain connected to their community so they can continue to lead active lifestyles.
MiCare Avondrust Lodge is a vibrant home where through our commitment to The Eden Alternative™ children, pets and plants are a part of daily life. This contemporary yet welcoming residence features the latest in assistive and smart technologies including a Smart TV in every room, including a variety of great key features including an on-site cafe and shop, hairdresser, MiCare private bus, individualised lifestyle programs, and landscaped courtyards, to name a few. We believe that our Elders should be provided with plenty of entertainment options. Our Lifestyle Team arrange group activities, sometimes with a Dutch flavor, but also, increasingly, with tastes of other cultures to accommodate the many elders who are not from a Dutch background. National holidays incorporating our multicultural population are celebrated in the traditional way and there is a weekly Happy Hour, where the real treat is an ‘advocaatje met slagroom’. Elders may choose to join the ‘Men’s Workshop’ or ‘Ladies Craft Club’. To enjoy the nearby beach or the local shops, we arrange scenic drives and other excursions.
The Manor has 45 rooms, with individual ensuites, and divided into smaller households of about 15 Elders, with dedicated staff for each group, so that relationships are maintained, known faces are on hand and the staff have an ongoing, experienced eye for how each Elder is travelling, physically, mentally and emotionally. If a registered nurse is required, there is one on site, ready to help. Our Lifestyle Coordinator is available to organise scenic drives and other excursions.
