Doctors have linked the difficulty in swallowing to oesophageal cancer, which is most common in people over the age of 50 years – although it can also affect younger people.
Other symptoms can include the sensation that food is getting stuck, pain with swallowing, regurgitation or blood-strained vomiting, weight loss, hoarse voice, coughing or choking after swallowing.
Do you find it difficult to swallow? If you are obese, smoke, consume excessive alcohol or are exposed to chemicals, you may be at risk of oesophageal cancer.
