SA Premier asked to help WA pension push due to high prices in SA
Seniors have called on South Australian Premier, Mike Rann, to join forces with the Western Australian Premier, Alan Carpenter, in lobbying the Federal Government for an increase in the single age pension.
The call comes after ABS figures revealed Adelaide had the highest increase in food prices over the last 12 months (5.57% compared to the national average of 4.23%).
Adelaide also registered the second highest overall CPI increase in the country, after Brisbane in the past year.
National Seniors chief executive officer, Michael O’Neill said: “One of Carpenter’s first election promises this month has been to lobby the Federal Government for a pension increase.
Mike Rann should follow suit and take this fight for all South Australian pensioners to Canberra.”
