Panadol (paracetamol) suitable option for people with asthma

In a development that confirms the suitability of paracetamol for the vast majority of people with asthma, PANADOL® (paracetamol 500mg) will become the first analgesic brand to join the Sensitive Choice program of the National Asthma Council Australia.

The program recognises products and services that can help people with asthma better manage their condition while also helping them avoid common asthma triggers.

Peer reviewed research published in the British Medical Journal confirms that as many as one in five people with asthma could have an attack triggered by a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) like ibuprofen or diclofenac, whereas paracetamol based products like Panadol affect less than two percent of people with asthma. If paracetamol does trigger an asthma attack it is usually milder and more easily reversed than an attack triggered by aspirin and NSAIDs.
