The announcement was made at a gala awards evening hosted by Eddie McGuire at Sydney’s Hilton Hotel, Grand Ballroom, last Thursday.

There were 600 entries from all around Australia for the awards which identify the achievements of aspiring and established leaders in 20 key categories. The selection for the awardees was made by an expert panel of highly regarded business professionals.

This is reportedly the first year that the awards have recognised the important role of chief executives in the not for profit sector.

Mr Mills’ Not for Profit Executive of the Year Award recognises his visionary and collaborative leadership style which has inspired RSL Care’s strategic reinvigoration under his stewardship.

“Within both the not for profit and the aged care sectors there is a need for change to more customer led, co-created and disruptive innovation,” Mr Mills says.

He has ‘walked the talk’ by co-creating, with his staff and RSL Care customers, a Charter which guides their new business direction and which is enabling the organisation to move beyond transactional care delivery to transformational reinvigoration of the ageing experience.

“We are focusing on guiding our customers to make the most out of life through wellbeing and independence,” he says.

Mr Mills’ shared vision has disrupted operations within RSL Care to drive a customer centric business, co-designing services and products to sustain growth while meeting customer needs.
