Call for submissions on national disability parking scheme

Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities, Bill Shorten, has launched a discussion paper and national public consultations about the new Australian Disability Parking Scheme.

The proposals aim to establish one set of eligibility criteria, national minimum standards for parking concessions, and one Australia-wide parking permit to replace more than 100 different parking permits currently issued across Australia.

There will be public consultations during June in each capital city, plus Alice Springs, Cairns and Townsville. Participants must register to attend by phoning 1800 630 740 or 1800 555 677 (TTY).

More information, and copies of the discussion paper are available at http://www.fahcsia.gov.au
