Blocked gutters to blame for many home insurance claims in Qld

NRMA Insurance is urging south-east Queensland households to heed the recent big wet and clear blocked gutters ahead of the usual storm season.

Soggy carpets are being cleared out as repairs get underway to water-drenched homes, especially around Noosa and Tewantin.

NRMA Insurance spokesperson, Frank Adler, said most of the home claims in south-east Quensland recently were caused by blocked gutters.

“Most of the 150 or so claims we’ve seen have been a result of leaves and debris blocking gutters and water seeping through roofs,” he said.

“It’s a timely reminder for households to clear their gutters and drains and get their roofs checked to hopefully reduce this sort of damage if we get any serious storms over summer.”
