With the city of Hobart nearby, St Ann’s is comfortably located at the top end of the city in a quiet residential area. Its original development from the 1830's has undergone numerous transformations, but still retains its historical charm. Hawthornden was built between 1831 and 1836 and is a National Trust house which has been carefully preserved as part of the total redevelopment of St Ann’s Davey Street.
St Ann’s enjoys a prestige location in a leafy part of town. Hotel-like in appearance, the heritage building features a red brick and yellow coloured render. The 1960 expansion consists of large wards and was renovated in the early 2000's. There are three units that are located over two floors. Intensive planning has created a design specific to the needs of residents, with a level access environment of the highest quality for both high and low care residents.
Room Options
111 beds (36 in dementia)
There are three different units – two of them are on one floor and one on another. Each unit has its own kitchenette with a dining room attached. Rooms are largely the same with slight variation in size and features, but offer different views.
Team Structure
Our team consists of clinical staff and specialists including registered nurses and personal care assistants available on-call, 24-hours a day. A social care team deals with activities and therapy. Team members are passionate, caring and friendly and go above and beyond to build a genuine rapport with residents.

We offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of services including:
• Residential aged care
• Palliative care
• Secure dementia care

Provided Services
With attention to the complete health and wellbeing of our residents, the services we offer combine specialist care with quality of life. Beyond our standard care offerings, further services accommodate specific needs of residents.
Dedicated specialists like physiotherapists, podiatrists and optometrists are available upon request and make frequent visits. Hairdressers come in weekly and are available by appointment.
Food & Diet
Healthy and balanced meal choices are always available and prepared on-site. Meals can also be tailored to fit any dietary requirements. The menu is on a four-week rotating schedule and includes a wide variety of seasonal dishes. Fresh food arrives throughout the week and is provided locally through the Oscar Hospitality Program.
Activities & Excursions
Daily activities and games are organised by the lifestyle and leisure team, with residents asked what they’d like to do on a regular basis. Bus transportation is able to accommodate a number of people for excursions to nearby areas of interest.
