Town of Bassendean Volunteer & Community Bus Service

The Town of Bassendean offers a community transport service for residents who have limited or no access to private transport and have difficulty accessing conventional public transport. The service is operated by a team of dedicated volunteer drivers and reception staff.

Operating from Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm the community transport service runs within a 20 kilometre radius (Exceptions are made for transport to medical centres such as Fiona Stanley)  The service consists of two eight-seater vehicles staffed by volunteer drivers.

Shopping Shuttle
On Thursday mornings a shopping shuttle transports residents to Bassendean Shopping Centre. Booking at least one day prior is required. Walking frames are not able to be accommodated in the vehicle on this day due to space restrictions.

Who can access the Service?
Priority of access for the service is given to residents requiring transport to medical appointments. For the safety of passengers and our drivers, we are only able to transport those who are living independently, are ambulate in movement and of independent mind. Residents who require supported transport can contact The Town of Bassendean Seniors and Disability Services – contact (08) 9279 6588. Children under seven (7) years of age are unable to be transported by the service due to Australian Road Safety Laws requiring child safety restraints.

Booking the service: all new passengers are required to fill in registration paperwork prior to their first appointment. Eligible residents are to make bookings by telephoning the Community Transport Office (9377 2190) at the earliest opportunity. Bookings are allocated on a ‘first come, first served basis’, with priority given for medical appointments. Residents need to be flexible in the time they are collected and dropped off to ensure everyone receives a fair service. Donations are welcome.

The service is fully funded by the Town with the allocation of funds approved yearly through the budget process. Donations are welcomed and are to be used to assist with the running of the service.

Office opening hours - 8.30am – 2pm Monday to Friday.

Drivers available - 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday.
