Mohini supports ‘Good Lives for Older People’
As International Volunteer Day approaches this Friday, South Australian aged care provider, ACH Group shares the story of one of its volunteer, Mohini Yadav, as a way of honouring the 560 volunteers who gave almost 80,000 hours of their time in the last financial year alone.

Aged care volunteer, Mohini Yadav, uses her accounting skills to support 'good lives' for South Australia's ACH Group’s customers.
Ms Yadav is a qualified accountant from Mumbai in India, who has used her skills to support older people to live good lives.
Before moving to Australia three years ago, she lived a busy life working as an assistant accountant and counsellor at an IT Firm, as well as spending time with her husband and two children.
“When I moved to Australia, I was unable to work full time due to family commitments. An ACH Group volunteer suggested I look into an administrative volunteering role. My son attends a childcare centre next to one of ACH Group’s offices, so I started volunteering in May this year,” Ms Yadav says.
“Since volunteering, I feel I have developed greater self confidence, I feel appreciated, I’m gaining experience, maintaining my skills and I’m connecting with my community,” she says.
“If anyone needs to make use of their spare time, instead of thinking inwardly, volunteering is the best way to feel good while making a real difference.”
International Volunteer Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985. It provides volunteer organisations and individual volunteers with the opportunity to raise the public awareness of their contributions to economic and social development at local, national and international levels.
