Victorian not for profit aged care provider, Benetas, is calling on the generosity of local communities to support the residents of aged care homes this winter.

Benetas provides valuable aged care services to older people and their families, with the vision of allowing all older Victorians to enjoy a positive experience of ageing.

This winter, residents and staff at each of the13 Benetas homes identified an activity or item that they hope their local community will assist them to raise funds for – something specific and extra special that will make an enormous difference to the lives of their residents.

Below are some of the homes’ wish lists:

Broughton Hall, Camberwell 3124 (80 residents), equipment for sensory room – $1,500

Colton Close, Glenroy 3046 (150 residents) – a celebration event of cultural diversity – $2,000

Corowa Court, Mornington 3931 (60 residents) – new lounge room furniture – $3,000

Dalkeith Hostel, Traralgon 3844 (54 residents) – a sensory garden – $3,000

Dowell Court, East Ivanhoe 3079 (44 residents) – a library corner – $3,000

Gladswood Lodge, West Brunswick 3055 (51 residents) – a gardening bench – $1,200

Hazelwood House, Churchill 3842 (38 residents) – a big screen TV – $1,500

Lovell House, North Caulfield 3161 (40 residents) – a gardening bench – $1,200

General manager of residential services, Paula Trood, hopes the public gets behind the locally driven fundraising campaigns.

“Our residential aged care homes are pivotal parts of their communities. People from the local community know our homes and residents, and we wanted to be able to give people the opportunity to support their local home.

“Each of the activities and items our staff and residents have chosen are really achievable, and will make a big difference to the lives of our residents,” Ms Trood said.
