Guardian Plan allows you to agree a cost for your funeral at today’s prices, which may save you thousands. And while the price is locked down, you’re free to move. Your Guardian Plan prepaid funeral can be transferred to over 240 locations around Australia.

A Guardian Plan pre-paid funeral won't only give you peace of mind, it can also save you money with our lock-in price that won't change with inflation. The price depends on what you choose for your funeral. Most people spend around $6,000 - $15,000.

Flexible Payment
While your initial cost will depend on your inclusions, there are no additional fees once you've paid in full. You can pay in full or pay an initial 30% contribution, followed by monthly instalments over 36 months. The choice is yours. Monthly instalment payment is not available for packages, full payment is required at the time of arranging your pre-paid funeral.
Simple paperwork
You can expect a straightforward and quick application process, with no extensive paperwork or health checks required.

Pension and entitlements
The Australian Government uses asset tests to determine pension entitlements for a retiree. As Guardian Plan is exempt from these tests, it’s a simple way for seniors to maintain their current age pension benefits.

All payments are held securely by The Over Fifty's Guardian Friendly Society, under APRA regulation.

Pre-Arranged Funerals Pre-arranging and pre-paying a funeral gives you time to think, plan and ensure peace of mind for yourself, family and friends.
The Alfred James Pre-Arranged Funeral Plan enables arrangements to be made today and kept on file for future reference at the time of need. You may choose to fix the price at the present day rate of payment and protect the certificate holder from any cost increase up to the time of death.
Some people choose to pre-arrange their funeral rather than prepay. The difference between a pre-arranged funeral and prepaid funeral is that a pre-arranged funeral is not paid for until after the funeral at the prices prevailing at the time the funeral is conducted. A prepaid funeral requires payment when the contract is signed and it protects the contract holder from future price increases.
Anyone can join the plan, regardless of age or state of health, but if under the age of 16 years, a parent or guardian’s consent is required.
For people of retirement age, entry into the plan will not affect pension entitlement as the pre-paid amount is currently exempt from the income, assets and deeming tests.
The money paid for your funeral plan is invested in Funeral Plan Management Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of Lifeplan Funds Management Pty Ltd), an approved investment under the Fair Trading (Pre-paid Funerals Code of Practice) Regulations 2011. This fund is capital guaranteed.
Payments can be made in one lump sum or by instalments over a period of three years. Funeral arrangements may be carried out anywhere in Australia or overseas but there may be additional fees for transport and other costs.

The Memory Tree A tree is a symbol of life. It can also be a living memorial and a comfort to those who are grieving the death of a loved one. Alfred James Funeral Directors, in partnership with Trees For Life, is proud of the Memory Tree program which was established in 1991.
As part of all funerals entrusted to them and as a company funded endowment, Alfred James Funeral Directors through Trees For Life, will plant a tree as a lasting remembrance of your loved one.
The Memory Tree program has helped to revegetate thousands of hectares in state national parks in Cobbler Creek and O’Halloran Hill and more recently on the land surrounding the animal habitats at Monarto Zoological Park. Trees For Life have now established a Memory Tree Walk in Kinchina Conservation Park and are also planting seedlings at a nearby conservation property called Frahn's Farm.
Trees For Life members plant native Memory Trees to improve wildlife habitat and air quality and to reduce erosion and salinity.
The trees are donated by Alfred James and once planted a certificate enclosed in a special folder is presented to the bereaved along with information about the Memory Trees and about Kinchina Conservation Park.
