Kalyna Care provides accommodation for low and high level, dementia specific care and respite. A valid assessment from an Aged Care Assessment Service is required for both respite and permanent admission to Kalyna Care. Relatives and friends of residents are encouraged to visit and be as involved in caring for their loved one as they wish to be. Relatives and significant others are involved in the care planning process which is reviewed with the resident on a regular basis. Residents and their visitors are able to relax & enjoy the homely surroundings and amenities of our home. The dining room is open to visitors and meals can be obtained for a nominal fee by prior arrangement. Relatives and friends are also encouraged to take residents home or for outings and health permitting, residents may go on a holiday if they so wish. We provide a home-like atmosphere based on Ukrainian and European traditions. Residents have the opportunity to maintain all that is important to them including their language, onsite mass, excursions to external community events, food and rekindling of friendships. The resident rooms have an ensuite, Nurse call buttons in the shower, toilet and bedroom, antennae for private television, telephone connectivity, bedside consoles, all linen and quality carpets and window treatments. Residents are able to furnish their own rooms with small items of furniture, their mementoes and bedding. Leisure and Lifestyle Our residents enjoy a diverse leisure and lifestyle program with a focus on maintaining health, wellbeing and cultural traditions. The home has a specially equipped room for use by visiting Doctors. A salon is available for Hairdressers, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists and other service people who visit on a regular basis. A pay phone is situated near the foyer for residents and residents may organise their own phone if they so desire. A kiosk is open every Thursday morning. Whenever possible, outings are organised for residents and transport is provided by our own mini bus with a wheel chair hoist. Respite CareRespite care is available for high and low level or dementia care and must be booked in advance as the demand for these services are high. Independent Living UnitsKalyna Care has a retirement village comprising ten self contained one or two-bedroom units. They are let on a bond based on market value of the unit at the time of occupancy. A waiting list for entry into the village is maintained.
