Para Hills Residential Care was established in 1983 and is a family-owned residential aged care facility (ie nursing home) located in the northern metropolitan area, 18 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD.
We are close to the Para Hills Community and Bowling Clubs, the Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital.
The home was extended in 2005 and 2016 to meet the highest aged care standards and provide large, bright, private rooms with ensuite. We also provide companion rooms popular with couples that are equally cheerful and airy. Quality Care with European Flair
Pennwood Village is run by the Serbian Community Welfare Association of SA Inc. It is a 60 bed facility that caters for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) clients mainly from the Slavic ethnic groups as well as Australian residents.
We respond proactively to the management of diversity in culture, language, communication, behaviour and beliefs of residents, families, staff and volunteers by collaborating with other mainstream organisations.
Pennwood Village assists CALD clients to obtain services by ensuring others:
Understand the issues affecting older people from CALD backgrounds
Ensure multilingual staff acquire the knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies to deliver culturally inclusive services
Develop and/or provide resources on culturally appropriate aged care.
The Resthaven Alliance will deliver a Community Care Partners Program in 2009. 'Connecting the Community: Supporting Older Serbian People to Access Aged Care Services' is a program that aims to identify and address specific barriers for CALD clients finding services by identifying key people in their communities to be “connectors” to support and mentor elderly people to find vital services.
The Aged Care & Housing (ACH) Swan Cottage Project introduces respite day care to CALD clients.
