Sash Ferguson is located in Mount Barker near the main street with cafes and supermarkets nearby. The Mount Barker Homemaker Centre is a few minutes’ walk away when using the nearby walking trail.
Sash Ferguson has 53 rooms with some located in the secure Memory Support Unit, which supports residents living with dementia. Eldercare’s award-winning Dementia Excellence Program is practiced throughout the facility and fosters genuine person-centred care.
The grounds feature carefully-landscaped rose gardens, garden beds, trees and shrubs. Various tranquil courtyards dotted across the property also provide peaceful places for residents to reflect and relax.
A dedicated chef prepares all food on-site daily and health professionals, including doctors, physiotherapist and podiatrist, visit regularly.
Residents can enjoy the on-site gym which features specially-designed equipment for older people and offers opportunities to build strength, increase fitness and improve mobility. Sash Ferguson’s hairdresser also provides services in the dedicated hairdressing salon at an additional cost.
Sash Ferguson’s dedicated Lifestyle team leads a comprehensive Lifestyle Program which provides opportunities for residents to enjoy their favourite pastimes, discover new interests and develop fresh skills. The Lifestyle team is supported by Sash Ferguson’s established team of dedicated volunteers.
The Lifestyle Program includes, but is not limited to, a coffee club, cooking group, pet therapy with Bella the Labradoodle and a variety of musical activities featuring songs of the residents’ generations.
Cultural days are regularly celebrated and large, special events are held each year; some of which have included country show-themed events and an annual Christmas carols performance. Residents and family members are encouraged to attend these events.
Additionally, Sash Ferguson’s chaplain is on-site three days a week to provide emotional and spiritual support to residents and their families as well as leading a regular ‘Chaplain’s Chat’ where meaningful resident conversations are held in a comforting and safe environment.
