About Blackwood Cottage
Blackwood Cottage is a 15 bed Older Person's Mental Health Residential Service for people over 65 years of age who experience challenging behaviours due to an enduring mental health condition or marked cognitive impairment.
Blackwood Cottage is staffed by experienced mental health nurses. The unit has 2 activities officers and receives Allied Health support from the Beechworth Health Service. Nursing Staff are rostered 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
A Consultant Psychiatrist visits fortnightly and there are weekly medical reviews from a General Practitioner with a Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine.
