With its soft bushland setting inhabited by native birds and views of Fraser Island from the grounds, Kirami boasts a relaxed atmosphere. The Aboriginal word Kirami meaning ‘home’ or ‘place of care’ exemplifies the experience of our residents at Hervey Bay.
Located a block from the waterside esplanade, Kirami is ideal for those who prefer to live away from the busy city without losing any of the benefits of a metropolitan location.
Kirami is in close proximity to hospitals, shopping facilities and bayside recreational opportunities.
About our Community
Kirami’s residential rooms are large, each with their own ensuite and ample storage. Television and telephone outlets are provided as standard fixtures.
Kirami is arranged in six wings, each with its own lounge, dining room and kitchen. Two specifically designed wings enable residents with dementia to live comfortably and securely. All rooms have views of or open onto lovely sub-tropical gardens and residents are encouraged to make their rooms a home.
Kirami’s large central area features weekly concerts and music sessions, regular craft sessions, bingo and other board games coordinated by our experienced diversional therapy team.
Kirami’s gorgeous grounds include an aviary adjacent to the central living area and, tucked away under a mango tree, is a free-range chicken enclosure.
The site facilities include a hairdressing salon & canteen together with a Beautician and Massage Therapist. A Podiatrist and Physiotherapist visit Kirami on a regular basis.
Spiritual and pastoral care is available for residents and their families in addition to weekly Anglican and monthly Roman Catholic liturgies held on site.
Families, volunteers and friends are welcome and frequently visit, with many participating in the Kirami’s daily activities.
