Wellington Views

Provided by Respect Aged Care

About

Wellington Views is a modern, level access facility located on Hobart’s Eastern Shore, in Old Beach. Set in a delightful semi-rural area just 25 minutes from the city centre, the home commands sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and Derwent River.

Wellington Views is designed around a cul-de-sac with ten houses, each with seven large private bedrooms, walk-in robes and ensuite bathrooms. Each house also has a kitchen and dining area, and some houses include a spacious lounge room and rooms have direct access to the adjoining gardens.

A large central recreational building enables residents to enjoy a range of leisure and lifestyle activities including the hairdressing salon and library. Covered walkways link all areas for easy access.

Wellington Views also has a dedicated dementia wing (Harry’s House) which provides residents with a safe and secure outdoor area, within a central paved courtyard. This area is serviced with tables and seating, garden areas and raised garden beds for the enjoyment of residents and families to enjoy outdoor activities.

Team Structure

Our team consists of clinical staff and specialists including registered nurses and personal care assistants available on-call, 24-hours a day. A social care team deals with activities and therapy. Team members are passionate, caring and friendly and go above and beyond to build a genuine rapport with residents.

Care Structure

We offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of services including:

  • Residential aged care
  • Palliative care
  • Secure dementia care
  • Respite care

Provided Services

With attention to the complete health and wellbeing of our residents, the services we offer combine specialist care with quality of life. Beyond our standard care offerings, further services accommodate specific needs of residents.

Dedicated specialists like physiotherapists, podiatrists and optometrists are available upon request and make frequent visits. Hairdressers come in weekly and are available by appointment.

Food & Diet

Both a full-time and part-time chef ensure that healthy and balanced meal choices are always available and prepared on-site. Meals can also be tailored to fit any dietary requirements. The menu is rotated seasonally. Fresh food arrives throughout the week and is provided locally through the Oscar Hospitality Program.

Activities & Excursions

A lifestyle and leisure team organises activities that happen 7 days a week. This is something that isn’t often found in other aged care facilities. Outings for lunch or just a drive are encouraged, especially if residents’ family would like to take them. Once a month, transportation is hired to accommodate a larger number of people for excursions nearby. On Fridays, there’s Happy Hour with music in the afternoon.

Nursing home features

  • Medium home (80 beds)
  • Specialist services: On-site Physiotherapist; a Podiatrist, Dietitian and Speech Therapist visit regularly
