Warrigal Warilla embraces a holistic approach to care by offering a high level of service and providing both medical and alternative models of health care.
Residents have the choice of their own doctor and access to a visiting Physiotherapist, Podiatrist, Optometrist, Dentist, Pharmacist and, where necessary, Dietitian. Programs are developed to suit individual needs.
Personal care is enhanced by the provision of a visiting Beautician, Hairdresser and Massage Therapist.
Recreational and social activities are organised on an individual and group basis by our Recreational Activities Officers.
Combined and individual religious services are also offered and a visiting library caters for wide-ranging reading requirements.
A variety of community groups regularly visit residents and family members also may choose to spend time with other residents, as well as their own loved ones.
Residents and families can rest easy feeling secure in the knowledge the premises are well lit and protected by security night patrols.
External doors have alarms to alert staff of unauthorised movement, whilst the north wing is a safe and secure Dementia ward. Here the staff encourage residents to succeed at tasks so their dignity, self respect and abilities are maintained. A calm atmosphere within a safe and secure ward environment ensures residents’ confusion and agitation are kept to a minimum.
Resident comfort and security are major considerations at Warrigal Warilla. Accommodation consists of double, four and some five bed wards, whilst seven single rooms allow the resident and the caring team the privacy certain situations may require.
Each resident has his or her own bed, side table, wardrobe, chair and communal toilets and showers.
Of the total of 100 beds, 58 are located in the special care dementia ward, the remaining 42 are standard high level care. All are dedicated to the enhancement of residents’ lifestyles by promoting the maximum degree of function and independence.
Each room has emergency buttons strategically placed for summoning rapid assistance.
There is a secure courtyard and wandering path for dementia resident, two recreational activity rooms and three outdoor enclosures for resident/relative use.
Both wards have communal dining and lounge areas to maximise social interaction.
