Posted
by DPS

Entries are now open for the 2011 Young At Heart Short Film Awards, a national film competition which highlights the artistic contribution made by seniors to Australian cinema.

Now in their 5th year, the Young At Heart Short Film Awards showcase the best new Australian short films starring seniors, selected from a national call for submissions. To be eligible, films must be Australian, completed no earlier than 1 January 2009, run less than 20 minutes and feature one or more lead actors over 60 years of age.

There is no entry fee and deadline for submissions is 1 February 2011.

Finalists compete for two $1,000 cash awards. The NSW Seniors Week Talent Award, decided by a jury of industry professionals, recognizes exceptional acting from a person over the age of 60. The Audience Award goes to the Best Film, as voted for by the audience.

The finalists will be screened on the opening night of Young at Heart, Sydney’s 6th Seniors Film Festival, 24 March at Dendy Opera Quays in Sydney. Winners will be revealed at the screening.
