Working together for cancer & palliative care research
As part of National Palliative Care Week, Silver Chain Hospice Care Service and The West Australian Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care, Curtin University, will be showcasing their collaborative research efforts and achievements at the 2010 Palliative Care Research Symposium on 27 May.
“The Symposium, titled “Working Together,” will provide clinicians, researchers, educators and consumers with an update on the collaborative research program between Silver Chain Hospice Care Service and the WA Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care,” said Silver Chain research director, Professor Gill Lewin.
“As Silver Chain continues to be at the forefront of community palliative care in Australia, Silver Chain staff and researchers from The WA Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care will present on topics relevant to best practice palliative care including spiritual assessment, the pharmacist’s role in community palliative care, flexible models of care to support people living alone, palliative care in the last year of life, improving the psychological wellbeing of carers and research on breathlessness in Silver Chain’s palliative care population.
“The Symposium will be a highly informative afternoon presenting innovative research which will help to inform the way nurses practise in the field.
“Anyone interested in the latest research on palliative care from The WA Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care and Western Australia’s largest health service provider, Silver Chain, is encouraged to attend the Working Together Symposium,” said Professor Lewin.
Held at the Wollaston Conference Centre, Mount Claremont, the session will run from 1 – 4 pm.
