Whitehorse Council in Vic selling aged care hostels
Whitehorse Council in Melbourne has decided to sell its aged care hostels, saying they “no longer meet the needs of the community.”
The Dorking Road Hostel and Nunawading Community Hostel, both low-care facilities, will be sold by tender in a process to begin in March.
The centres house 110 people and employ about 100 staff.
The move comes after a confidential decision by the council in November.
Residents, their families, staff and volunteers were told of the decision before the decision was announced.
