What happened to Ageing 2030 in the NSW budget?
Seniors’ groups have expressed disappointment at the lack of long-term initiatives in 2008-09 state budget to support the NSW government’s ageing strategy launched earlier in the year.
National Seniors NSW policy group chair, Graeme Postlethwaite, said that with very little in this budget to promote productive ageing, the Iemma government’s commitment to its Ageing 2030 was questionable.
However, $4 million has been allocated towards the recruitment and retention of dentists, which should alleviate pressures on waiting lists.
