The Australian Government has recognised two prominent residents; Mr John Minervini and Mrs Frances Minervini, for their significant contribution to improving the lives of senior Australians in WA.

Australian Government Minister for Ageing, Mrs Justine Elliot, Federal Member for Fremantle, Melissa Parke, the State Member for Fremantle and the WA Minister for Health, Jim McGinty, presented both Mr and Mrs Minervini with Community Service Awards.

This Award is presented to individuals who provide outstanding service to older Australians – or to older Australians who themselves provide outstanding community service.

They may be community members, volunteers, carers, aged-care workers or administrators.

Mrs Elliot said both Mr and Mrs Minervini were worthy recipients of the award, due to their long, varied and continuing service to the local Italian community –  especially in establishing the Italian aged care village in Fremantle .
