Victoria’s RDNS expands into China
Victoria’s Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) will partner with China’s Zhongshan College to develop aged care services in China.
Victoria’s Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) will partner with China’s Zhongshan College to develop aged care services in China.
Victorian Minister for Manufacturing, David Hodgett, made the announcement in Nanjing last week, as part of the Victorian government’s Super Trade Mission to China.
Zhongshan College is based in Victoria’s sister state, Jiangsu Province, and carries out aged care research, provides aged care facilities and has a 400 bed rehabilitation hospital.
The RDNS and the college will establish a new joint venture company to facilitate the introduction and adaption of best practice aged care models into a Chinese setting.
The new venture will develop policy frameworks on quality standards, models of care, clinical pathways and operational management, as well as other areas.
Minister Hodgett said Victoria and China were both dealing with growing and ageing populations, meaning both would see demand for health services rise in the near future.
“Care models for seniors are being modernised in both China and Victoria to best reflect the needs of our communities, which increasingly want to receive treatment at home or in a community health facility nearby.
“Victoria’s expertise in infrastructure development, health workforce training and development, patient-centred care models, and preventative health strategies are internationally recognised,” he said.
