Victorian aged care standards
More than 1,300 elderly Victorians are living in nursing homes where clinical care has been deemed inadequate at some point during the past 18 months. Nearly 1,000 are living in homes found to have had staffing problems over the same period. These figures are based on an analysis of Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency records.
According to the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, 23 Victorian nursing homes with 1,308 residents have failed clinical care standards since July last year. The records show that 14 homes with 978 residents had inadequate staffing levels at some time over the period.
A recent report by the aged care complaints commissioner recently revealed that Victoria had the highest number of complaints about nursing homes of any state.
