Veteran Pension rate rise
New pension and income support payment rates are now effective. Some 290,000 veterans, their partners, war widows and widowers across Australia are able to apply for the new rates.

Some 290,000 veterans, their partners, war widows and widowers across Australia are able to apply for the new rates.
The first full pension payments at the new rates will be on 17 October 2013.
A Service Pension for a single veteran is now $827.10 per fortnight, making it an $18.70 increase per fortnight. A Service Pension for a couple is now $1,246.80 per fortnight, an increase of $28.00 per fortnight.
Pensions are indexed twice a year in March and September, taking account changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Pensioner and Beneficiary Living Cost Index (PBLCI) and Male Total Average Weekly Earnings (MTAWE).
